14th International Symposium on Tardigrada

Tardigrades or water bears are microscopic animals found in a range of habitats across the globe. These small animals are renowned for their ability to shutdown metabolism and enter a state of hidden life called cryptobiosis. In this state, tardigrades may endure desiccation, freezing, extreme levels of radiation and journeys outside Earth's protecting atmosphere.

International tardigrade symposia take place every three years and represent a unique opportunity for researchers, students and other tardigrade enthusiasts to get together, discuss and promote research and scientific ideas on different aspects of tardigrade biology. These symposia represent the greatest scientific forum on tardigrades and give new perspectives on a range of topics related to these enigmatic animals. This is the second time that Denmark is hosting a tardigrade conference. The last meeting took place in 2000, also at UCPH.
