BRIEF SUMMARY OF MY RESEARCH

The research in my group is focused on developing and applying statistical and computational methods to genomic data to answer questions within both population genetics and medical genetics. Within population genetics we are mainly aiming at gaining insights into how the human species evolved has and how the world was peopled. Within medical genetics we are mainly aiming at identifying genetic variants that play role in a number of different diseases and traits, such as type 2 diabetes, and at uncovering the underlying biological mechanism to gain biological insights. Importantly, to pursue these aims, we continuously develop new bioinformatics software tools, which we share freely with other researchers.
