I am a social anthropologist graduated from the University of Copenhagen and with a PhD from Aarhus University. I have throughout my education worked with ethnic minorities, national and ethnic identities, and with childhood and creativity, both in Brazil and in Denmark. Min PhD research focused on the everyday lives of young women in Maputo, Mozambique. My analysis explores the ways in which dependence and social difference in intimate relationships are central aspects of the sociality of the place and of the local production of social personhood.

Min current research is part of The equality-difference paradox: national policies on cultural pluralism, a project dedicated to a comparative investigation of the moral fundament upon which egalitarian ideologies rest. Looking at three distinct liberal democracies – USA, Ireland and Denmark – Ludmila Bogdan, Séamus Power and I will examine the values that underlie understandings and practices of equality in each of these societies. Focusing on interethnic clashes, we will explore the limits of egalitarianism and the range of tolerance in the three different cultural contexts.
