Kristina Aleksandrovna Pedersen is a Ph.D. Fellow at the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. Her project investigates control of the media by authoritarian regimes as a tool to ensure the regime’s survival. The project focuses on regime strategies aimed at the media and how these strategies affect the news content produced by TV-channels as well as the effect of this on citizens’ political behavior. Russia is the empirical focus for this project. Furthermore, the project employs machine learning to estimate the political positioning of media companies towards the regime through their news content.

The project is supervised by Jacob Gerner Hariri with co-supervisor Gregory Eady.
