Ciliegruppen

Cilier er mikrotubuli-baserede, hår-lignende organeller der sidder på overfladen af de fleste celler i vores krop når disse er i vækststop. Nogle typer af cilier er motile og findes i mange eksemplarer pr. celle (f.eks. på cellerne i luftvejsepithelet) imens andre cilier er immotile og findes i et eksemplar pr. celle. Disse cilier kaldes også primære cilier. Både motile og primære cilier har vigtige sensoriske funktioner, og defekter i dannelsen eller funktionen af cilier kan føre til en række alvorlige sygdomme og udviklingsmæssige defekter hos mennesker, f.eks. medfødte hjertesygdomme, cystedannelse i nyre og lever, fedme, cancer og kognitive sygdomme.

I vores gruppe forsker vi bl.a. i følgende cilie-relaterede emner:

  • Funktionen af det primære cilie i regulering af cellulære signaleringsveje, herunder PDGFRα, Hedgehog, Wnt and TGFβ signalering.
  • Funktionen af det primære cilie i regulering af cellepolaritet, migration, differentiering og vækstkontrol
  • Funktionen af det primære cilie i stamceller og dannelse af de indre organer under fosterudvikling, herunder hjerteudvikling
  • Funktionen af det primære cilie i udvikling af kræft
  • De molekylære mekanismer involveret i intraflagellær transport
  • Funktionen af mikrotubuli 'plus-end-tracking' proteiner i dannelsen af cilier
