Three new Affiliated Professors at BIO

New Affiliated Professors

Head of Research Nikolai Friberg, Dr. Lise Madsen, and Professor Saverio Cinti appointed Affiliated Professors at the Department of Biology

Affiliated professor in Freshwater Biology Nikolai Friberg

Affiliated professor in Molecular Nutrition Lise Madsen
Dr. Lise Madsen was for 8 years employed as Associate Professor at the Department of Biology and has during this period been key for much as the research activity in the Laboratory of Genomics and Molecular Biomedicine (LGMB). During this period Lise Madsen published 64 articles in international refereed journals with members of LGMB. In addition, Lise Madsen and Karsten Kristiansen have supervised 13 PhD students who have finished their studies. Half of these PhD students have to a large extent been financed via grants to Lise Madsen due to her position at the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES). In addition, Lise Madsen has frequently hosted other PhD students enrolled at the Department of Biology at NIFES creating a strong and successful collaborative axis. It should be mentioned that Dr. Lise Madsen has been evaluated Professor Competent in Norway in connection with her appointment as Head of Research at NIFES. Furthermore, her list of publication, including a significant number of first and last authorship, with high visibility and citation is clear indication that Dr Lise Madsen is highly qualified for a position as (Adjunct) Professor. By offering Dr. Lise Madsen the title as Adjunct Professor at the Department of Biology, the established strong interaction between the Department of Biology and NIFES will be maintained.

Affiliated professor in Anatomy and Physiology of Adipose Organ Saverio Chinti
Professor Saverio Cinti is one of the world leading experts in relation to adipose tissue morphology and function. His world-wide interaction with leading research group is legendary, and hardly any talk at international meetings proceeds without acknowledging the contribution by Professor Saverio Cinti. Professor Karsten Kristiansen has collaborated with Professor Saverio Cinti for more than 15 years with several joint publications. In addition, Professor Saverio Cinti spent 5 month in 2013 as a visiting professor with Professor Karsten Kristiansen at the Laboratory of Genomics and Molecular Biomedicine financed by the Villum Foundation. In addition, Professor Saverio Cinti has housed and trained several of our PhD students and postdocs in his laboratory in Ancona, Italy. By offering Professor Saverio Cinti the position as Adjunct Professor at the department of Biology we can maintain and even strengthen the established fruitful collaboration.
