Microenvironmental Ecology of Aquatic Plants:
My research has so far focussed on how seagrasses alter the biogeochemical processes and chemical conditions in their rhizosphere via release of O2 and DOC to e.g. detoxify the surrounding sediment and mobilize essential nutrients. Future research interest are aiming at resolving important seagrass/microbe interactions in the seagrass rhizosphere and leaf microenvironment to elucidate potential mutually beneficial relationships between the seagrass host and their microbial community.
