Abstract
Join us for the PhD defense seminar of Shuang Peng, who will present her research on Early-life Microbiome Dynamics: Initial Colonization, Development, and Influencing Factors. This research is the result of a close and long-standing collaboration between Søren Sørensen's group at the Department of Biology and the COPSAC center at Herlev Hospital, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing our understanding of the early-life microbiome.
Shuang Peng’s work utilizes data from the COPSAC cohorts to explore how environmental factors, such as antibiotic use, season of birth, and sibling interactions, shape the development of the airway and gut microbiota in infants. Her findings offer new insights into how these factors influence microbial maturation, with potential implications for interventions aimed at promoting healthier development in early childhood.
