Welcome to cOpenNMR
The Copenhagen Center for Open NMR Spectroscopy – cOpenNMR – is an infrastructure project funded by the NovoNordisk foundation, located at the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab), Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), in the heart of the Copenhagen-Lund structural biology cauldron.
cOpenNMR enables open access to academic and industrial scientists from all fields for conducting high field solution NMR spectroscopy to push their research to the next level.
We offer access to three high field NMR spectrometers (600, 750 and 800 MHz) with cutting edge probe technology to allow for experiments in a wide range of research areas, with a special focus on characterization of the structural biology of macromolecules.
800 MHz – Bruker Avance Neo 800 spectrometer
● 5mm CPTXO Cryoprobe C/N-H-D (optimized for direct 13C detection)
● Temperature controlled automatic sample changer for 24 samples
● S/N (13C): 3500 (100mM 13C-Methanol in DMSO)
● S/N (1H): 4600 (0.1% Ethylbenzene in Chloroform-D)
Founded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation
750 MHz – Oxford 750 magnet, Bruker Avance III HD spectrometer
● 5mm TCI Cryoprobe H-C/N-D
● S/N (1H): 8500 (0.1% Ethylbenzene in Chloroform-D)
Founded by the John & Birthe Meyer Foundation and the Villum Foundation
600 MHz – Bruker Avance III HD 600 spectrometer
● 5mm QCI Cryoprobe H-P/C/N-D
● Temperature controlled automatic sample changer for 24 samples
● S/N (1H): 5200 (0.1% Ethylbenzene in Chloroform-D)
Founded by the Villum Foundation
The charged cost aims to cover running costs, handling, and general service. Staff man hours are calculated with 1000 Dkr/h for academia and 2800 DKr/h for industry (180% overhead included). Co-applicants of the cOpenNMR grant pay half the price specified in the table below. For each sample, a fee of 40 Kr is charged to cover the expenses for the sample tube and the deuterated solvent.

cOpenNMR is part of the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory (SBiNLab) and is affiliated with the Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) located at the Copenhagen Biocenter close to the incubator establishment of Copenhagen Bio Science Park (www.COBIS.dk).
The Steering Committee is responsible for organizing the facility and evaluate incoming applications, allocating measurement time and planning the activities of the facility. The committee meets physically twice a year. Members of the Steering Committee allocates acquisition time every second week to the active projects.
The current members of the steering committee:
Birthe B. Kragelund (chairman)
Kaare Teilum (SBiNLab)
Kresten Lindorff-Larsen (SBiNLab)
Henriette E. Autzen (SBiNLab)
Andreas Prestel (NMR manager)
Michael Ploug (Finsen Laboratory)
Knud J. Jensen (CHEM, UCPH)
Tomas Jacso (Amgen Inc.)
Flemming Hoffman-Larsen (LEO Pharma A/S)
Stine F. Pedersen (vice-head of research, BIO, UCPH)
Caspar Elo Christensen (secretariat)
Each year, cOpenNMR hosts a half-day meeting at which the steering committee is selected and scientific highlights from the past year presented by users. A short yearly report on usage statistics, publications with contributions from the facility, new funding, new users and highlights from the past year is distributed to the users’ group and is available on the cOpenNMR homepage.
