I am a genetic engineer. My research is focused on the modification of microorganisms with the end of producing useful microbes for society. In my PhD project, I will work mainly with cyanobacteria, trying to understand the natural mechanisms that they use to capture CO2.

Part of the anthropogenic CO2 emission to the oceans and atmosphere comes from industrial exhaust gases. My aim is to modify cyanobacteria to optimize their natural mechanism of capturing CO2 and use them to reduce the amount of CO2 in industrial waste streams. For this purpose, I will be using random and targeted mutagenesis. RNA extractions and transcriptomic techniques will have also a role in this research. This is a project in collaboration with the faculty of HEALTH at Copenhagen University.

Feel most welcome to contact me if you are interested in my research.
