I am a passionate marine scientist interested in organismal physiology under environmental changes. My current research interests focus on studying the health status of corals and their metabolic performance to predict future conditions and prioritize conservation efforts. I have expertise in using novel technologies to explore organismal ecophysiology in situ and in the laboratory, with the ambition to include multidisciplinary aspects in international networks of marine scientists.

Primary fields of research

Coral ecophysiology, metabolic rates and performance, nutrient metabolism, optical sensors and microsensors for biogeochemical analysis of coral microenvironment.

Current research

Leader of the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship with the project "Mediterranean Coral Performance under Warming and Iron Enrichment Conditions". I study the metabolism of Mediterranean corals and their physiological responses to ocean warming and inorganic iron enrichment. The objective is to track the cellular uptake of iron and identify the metabolic performance of two Mediterranean corals as a function of seawater warming and iron enrichment to better assess their response to future climate scenarios.
