Carl Wesenberg-Lund
Carl Wesenberg-Lund (1867–1955)
Carl Wesenberg-Lund was a Danish zoologist and freshwater ecologist who pioneered limnology in Denmark. He established the first freshwater biology laboratory in the Nordic region at Furesøen and became the first professor of freshwater biology at the University of Copenhagen. His research focused on lake plankton and the ecology of Furesøen, and he was a strong advocate for nature conservation. He was a member of several prestigious scientific societies and received numerous honors, including the Order of the Dannebrog.
